Hordes: Domination Cover + Privateer Moves Into Resin

Yesterday Privateer Press posted up the details of Hordes: Domination on thier site. You can see it >>HERE<< or below.

Hordes: Domination

UNLEASH THE FURY OF WAR!

Within the shadows of the wilds, events are set in motion that will bring the area’s powers into a desperate clash by which their fates in the west will be determined. As a returned hero prepares to enact an ancient ritual to foil the plots of dragons, the Skorne Empire resumes its march for conquest and the beleaguered United Kriels must outfox old enemies in their continued fight for the survival of their race.

HORDES: Domination heralds the next exciting chapter of the HORDES saga. Set loose the savagery of war with:
• New troops to bring to the fight, including ten new warlocks and the debut of the mighty battle engines.
• New narrative fiction, including compelling stories for each HORDES faction.
• A painting and modeling guide to help you ready your forces for battle.
• New Theme Force lists for each new warlock, which allow you to create armies based on specialized forces found in the HORDES world.

MASTER YOUR ENEMIES AND LET NONE STAND AGAINST YOUR DOMINATION!

A stunning cover with some very interesting and even creepy things on it. The Legion Battle Engine is disgustingly cool. And what about Circle? Not only is eBaldur fighting Kallus but there are a couple of yet unseen things in there aswell.
The armoured Griffins (is that how you spell it?). If the models are even half as nice as the artwork I will be picking up a Circle force.
And look in the bottom right. A Tharn Worpwolf? Maybe a type of Warpborn Skinwalker? Whatever it is, I like it!
What is the Legion Battle Engine holding?
Sooooooo many questions.

What am I looking forward to? The Minions. The ones we have seen so far are great. But theres more we havent seen yet!

Privateer Moves to Resin

Todays Insider Blog  has some very interesting info on Privateers model plans.
Will go to Will Shick to tell you -

This month, the final WARMACHINE battle engine, the Vessel of Judgment rolls onto store shelves and tabletops across the world. The Vessel represents an important milestone for Privateer Press: it completes the first line of our resin kits. However, even now, we are hard at work on the next set of battle engines contained within the pages of the upcoming HORDES: Domination.

But resin isn’t restricted to battle engine-sized models alone. Also hitting store shelves this month is the first 50 mm resin/metal hybrid kit for WARMACHINE or HORDES: the Bronzeback Titan.

If you have assembled your own Bronzeback, you can see from the pictures below that the new hybrid kit maintains the same look and detail as the original metal kit.

Over time, several more of our larger metal kits will receive a similar treatment. With the price of tin continuing to rise, kits like these allow us to keep our prices more stable and still offer the same great-looking, high-quality miniatures players have come to know and love over the last ten years.
’Til next time,

I think its a great move. Lighter, easier to build minis with sharper detail and not shooting up in price. Whats not to like?
Gives alot of options for even better minis in the futre aswell.

What do you think?

  1. Why this tentacle thing. I was hoping for a giant dragon. :(
    But the Griffons are cool.

  2. The Immoren dragons are much different to any others. They are village or even town sized.
Im sure the background will explain why its like it is. Maybe a creation gone wrong but they then found a use for?

  3. At the risk of sounding naughty, from my point of view, I am not sure it is a good thing.
This is without me actually having interaction with the kit, but here is my experience:

GW makes a Tau Crisis Suit, and it is all out of plastic. For the Broadside Battle Suit, they sold a metal upgrade kit. It had metal arms, big metal guns and metal feet.

They are extremely 'drop-able' due to them being "the wrong way around"

Metal centre and stick plastic/resin doodads onto it? Fine.
Plastic/resin centre and hang heavy metal doodads off of it with leverage and a weird centre of mass? Not so good.

Now hopefully I am wrong, and PP has done a better job of it. But I am sceptical, at present. The Broadsides are somewhat maligned, as a model, by Tau players.

It may be cheaper and lighter, but is it better? I don't know.
